Fall brings falling leaves, cold mornings, and rainy days, and nothing goes better with those than some good music to match the vibe. These are three albums that perfectly fit in with the season. The first album is The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me by Brand New. This album, while not the most popular, is a personal favorite of mine. It bridges the gap between emo and indie rock. Its dark, sad lyrics and instrumentals, that send chills down your body, makes it perfect for a gloomy fall day. This is an album that is really good to listen to from start to finish, but if you are not the type of person to listen to a full album, then songs I would recommend the most are “Jesus Christ,” “Degausser,” “Limousine,” and “You Won’t Know.”
While researching what the internet thinks is the best album for the fall season, I came across a list by Vinyl that places Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors at number one, and it is a take that I agree with tenfold, a 70s rock masterpiece. More upbeat than the previous album, Rumors feels like driving through the countryside and forests of vibrant orange trees. It would be a fantastic album for a fall road trip. Personal favorite songs on the album include “Never Going Back Again,” “The Chain,” and “Dreams.”
The website for the radio station WXJM also made a list of what they believe are the best fall albums, and on this list, it features one of my favorite albums, Souvlaki by Slowdive. This 1994 alternative rock and shoegaze album is perfect for a rainy, cold day in fall. It features raw emotions through the dreary instrumentals and tragic lyrics. Every song on this album is spectacular and generally has the same style and vibe. Some of the best songs on this album include “Dagger,” “When The Sun Hits,” and “Altogether.”
