Sounders 2019 Season

It’s been smooth sailing so far!

After facing a heartbreaking semi final defeat to the rival Portland Timbers in November of last year, crushing the Sounders’ hopes for a second MLS Cup, the Sounders organization has been hard at work preparing for this season.

In the offseason the Sounders had to bid farewell to a crowd favorite and the only original Sounder left on the squad from the 2009 inaugural MLS season, Osvaldo Alonso. He officially signed with Minnesota on January 10th.

With almost all the starters from last years historic 9 game win streak, many Sounders fans expect the Sounders to make another appearance in the MLS cup final this fall. Bothell High School’s varsity goalkeeper Spencer Haney (‘19) is a little less optimistic, expecting them to make at least a playoff appearance.

The Sounders will also regain the help of forward Jordan Morris, who missed all of last season with a torn ACL. Morris won MLS player of the week in his first game back with his two goals in the season opener against expansion side FC Cincinnati on March 2nd. Spencer is also excited to see Jordan back as he is known to help the Sounders speed of play and intensity come gameday.
