There are many varying opinions about what movies are overrated and which ones get overlooked or underrespected for their achievements. In some cases, only a small demographic makes these films under or overrated. The debate about the appropriate rating for movies tends to be directed at franchise or popular films, as it is hard to judge an original film as overrated or underrated. I have seen all the movies listed once, twice, or many, many times. So here it is: My opinions on the most overrated and underrated movies. As was in the past, #1 is the most under or overrated and #10 is the least. Interestingly enough, several of the underrated movies are actually Academy Award winners, and the first three films on the underrated list are amazingly among the five highest-grossing films of all time with Avatar (2009) grossing $2.923 billion in 1st place, quite ahead of Avengers Endgame (2019).
