Ways to help the homeless through winter holidays.

As the holidays approach and the weather gets colder/ many homeless people struggle to live off the streets in such harsh conditions. While Seattle continues to become greater plus more expensive, it leaves families and citizens in a financial pit. How to help the homeless this season:

There are many organizations using funds and donations from Seattle’s community, which are then used for the dependants. Here are some ways you can help the homeless this winter season.

The number 1 way you can help is by donating. Whether it is donating food or clothes to charities and shelters, it benefits the individual from going hungry and cold. Taking part in a fundraising event not only helps support the fundraiser, but it encourages you to become closer as a community.

Volunteering at shelters is another way you can support the homelessness. There are various voluntary roles at many shelters, and many are in need of voluntary work. Sui Lang a voluntary worker of Mary’s Place Seattle shelter states “No one should have to wake up in the cold, especially in the winter” Sui Lang then begins to add on saying “I think this shelter has brought me many opportunities. Its opened my eyes to do what’s best and help others.” As Seattle begins to flourish, Seattle’s communities should begin to support others and become an inviting city.
