In North America, deep under the earth, there is a ruined temple. In that temple, a Red Blade is stabbed into a pedestal, and behind that is a tunnel leading to many murals showcasing events in North American history.

These include the Trial of Tears in the 1830s, the Attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, and the September 11 attacks, just to name a few. But, in that very same temple is a mural depicting something often overlooked in history. The mural depicts North America, ravaged by bombs, and in the middle is a family minding their own business, not paying any attention to the explosions around them. The mural has an engraving, and when translated, it states, “A birth of terror and Chaos, a terror ignored by the people, allowed to fester and grow as stories are lost to time.”

This mural and engraving refer to the United States of America in the 1970s. During that time, protest bombings were a common occurrence, especially in cities like New York and Chicago. At the time, people didn’t bat an eye at all the bombings around them, most likely due to the bombings happening during the last years of the Vietnam War and the Cold War. Radical underground groups usually did bombings, such as the Weather Underground, the New World Liberation Front, and the Symbionese Liberation Army. These bombings grew along with other terrorism tactics, and the groups perfected them. Eventually, the governments of the world would take measures to defend against the bombings and terrorism. For the United States specifically, bombings became less frequent and more deadly as the groups performing said bombings became less in numbers and more desperate. This part of bombing and terrorism history people mostly forget nowadays. No one from this era bothered to make the new generation remember this part of history, and its stories slowly faded.

The following isn’t part of the Chaos Blade Files. Next up is lost security footage formatted in text from a laboratory in the Atlantic Ocean, which had been conducting experiments on the Red Chaos Blade.

12:33 AM – Assistant Scientist Leah wakes up in Living Quarters, said to be due to nightmares.

12:49 AM – After trying to go back to sleep, Leah gets up to get an early start on work.

1:03 AM – Leah gets ready and heads toward the room containing the Red Chaos Blade.

1:08 AM – Leah has arrived and notices the Red Chaos Blade is faintly glowing. Notes this development for later.

1:11 AM – The glowing brightens. Leah notes the temperature in the room is increasing.

1:25 AM – Temperature has increased to a dangerous level and continues to rise. Safety Systems are failing. Leah has alerted the other scientists and the government.

1:39 AM – Scientists attempt to stop the temperature from increasing further. Safety Systems continue to fail. Scientists have been told to evacuate.

1:42 AM – Scientists evacuated. Security cameras have been melted. Explosion Occurs. Connection Lost.
