Double Sunset – Poetry

Brilliant colors of the sunset

melt

into the foliage of

dying

trees. Yellow, orange, red, purple,

fade

into drab browns,

into different shades of gloom.

Coffee-ground leaves

sink

into the damp earth below.

Winter approaches. Feel it through the

chill of the air as it

bites faces, nips one’s ears. Feel it through the

somber fog of rain.

But, Summer fights still. Feel it through the

gentle warmth peaking from behind clouds

in late afternoons.

Watch.

The leaves preserve colors of

a melting Summer

sunset.
